Is your CE mark enough to sell in Israel? Usually not. Here's how Israeli Standards (SII / ת״י) compliance works — and how we handle it for you.
⚠️ The most important thing to know: CE ≠ SII. A European CE mark does not automatically permit sale in Israel. Many products must meet the relevant Israeli Standard (SII / "ת״י") and carry Hebrew labeling. This is the #1 reason shipments get stuck at Israeli customs.
The Standards Institution of Israel (SII, "מכון התקנים") sets and enforces the mandatory standards ("ת״י" — Tav Taqan) that many products must meet to be legally imported and sold in Israel. Categories like electronics, lighting, toys, products for children and many others fall under mandatory standards.
| Product type | Typical Israeli Standard (verify per product) |
|---|---|
| Lighting & luminaires | SI 60598 |
| Household electrical appliances | SI 60335 series |
| Plugs & voltage | Israeli plug SI 32 · 230V / 50Hz |
| Wireless products (WiFi/BT/RF) | Ministry of Communications type approval (in addition to SII) |
| Furniture (wood panels) | SI 1913 (formaldehyde emission) |
| Textiles & apparel | Mandatory Hebrew labeling (fiber, origin, care) |
The exact requirement and "import group" are determined per product with the authorities and the customs broker.
Beyond the standard itself, most consumer products require Hebrew labeling — including importer details, usage and safety information, and category-specific data (e.g. fiber content for textiles). Missing or non-Hebrew labels can delay clearance.
